Court adjourns Dery’s case against Anas, Bola Ray, others

The seven-member Supreme Court panel hearing the multiple suits filed by embattled High Court Judge Paul Dery against Anas Aremeyaw Anas, the Chief Executive Officer of the EIB Network, Kwabena Anokye Adisi, popularly known as Bola Ray, and others has adjourned the case to January 20.

The court was hearing one writ and three civil motions filed by Justice Dery who is challenging an allegation of bribery leveled against him by Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his Tiger Eye PI.

Justice Dery’s lawyers have, however, withdrawn a contempt motion filed against Justice Gertrude Torkonu who was assigned to hear the cases relating to the corruption scandal.

Meanwhile, 21 of the Magistrate and Circuit Court judges implicated in the judicial corruption scandal exposed by Anas and his Tiger Eye PI firm have been sacked.

The Judicial Council has started swearing in new judges to replace the dismissed ones.

The Chief Justice today sworn into office five circuit court judges and nine magistrates.
