Ghanaians advised not to be complacent over SARS

Koforidua, Aug. 12, GNA – The Eastern Regional Deputy Director of Health Service, Dr Emmanuel Tinkorang has appealed to people not to be complacent about the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). He said the fact that the incubation period had expired since the last case was recorded did not mean: “It is all over.”

“The disease is new and nobody can tell if it is seasonal and for that reason it can occur again,” Dr Tinkorang said and called for a full implementation of all precautionary measures so that Ghana was not taken unawares.

Speaking to Journalists on the work of the Eastern Regional SARS Committee, Dr Tinkorang said if the disease was seasonal then come November it could resurface and nobody could tell in which country it would occur.

He said the Eastern Regional SARS Committee was implementing all precautionary measures to check any outbreak of the disease in the Region.
