Esiama Celebrate Kundum Festival

the chiefs and people of Esiama in the Nzema East District have held a durbar to round off their annual Kundum festival. In his address, the MP for Ellembele, Mr.. Freddie Blay, expressed concern about the low enrolment in schools at both the basic and senior secondary school levels in the area. He said education is the key to success in every field of human Endeavour . He therefore charged parents and guardians to give their children good education. Mr.. Blay, who is also the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, advised the people to set up cottage industries now that the area has been connected to the national electricity grid. He said the sandy beaches in the area are potential tourist attractions and called on the people to keep them clean in order to attract entrepreneurs who would establish beach resorts. He appealed to the chiefs and people to revive their self-help spirit to facilitate the development of the town. The Nzema East District Chief Executive, Mr.. J.R.D. Kobinah, appealed to landlords to take advantage of the community water and sanitation programme to construct Kumasi Ventilated Pit Latrines (KVIPs).
