Watchman Strangled By Armed Robbers

A group of unidentified armed robbers in the early hours of last Friday August 8, this year attacked and killed a 50 year-old night-watchman, Alhassan Issifu, at a popular drinking bar, Peace Spot, at Konongo-Odumasi.

Chronicle investigations revealed that, after secretly pouncing on the deceased, the robbers tied his hands behind him with his own sweat-shirt, which he was wearing, before strangling him.

Having “finished” him, the robbers left him outside and stormed the peaceful Peace Spot bar, which was apparently their target for the night.

The robbers then broke into the bar and stole one Akai Stereo sound system with its speakers after ransacking the place. They also made away with assorted quantities of foreign drinks, after pulling out drawers and finding no money.

The Konongo District police commander, DSP Issahaq Mohammed, told the Chronicle in an interview at Konongo that it was the proprietor of the drinking spot , Mr. Charles Adu-Gyamfi, who discovered the body when he reported in the morning for the day’s business.

He revealed that his outfit is treating it as a “murder case” and assured the general public that, “we will get to the bottom of this as we have already set in motion the necessary steps to unravel it.”

Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching in Kumasi for autopsy. The late Alhassan Issifu left behind a pregnant wife and children.
