2,234 health trainees processed for employment

The Ministry of Finance (MoF), has released the financial clearance for 2,234 health trainees of the Ministry of Health (MoH) to facilitate processes for their employment.

The health trainees who completed their training in 2013, are by their clearance, expected to start work from January 1, next year.

The Finance Ministry, in a statement signed and issued in Accra, charged the MOH and the Ghana Health Service (GHS) to ensure that the trainees to be recruited had their documents processed early and placed on mechanised payroll.

“This is to enable the Controller and Accountant-General’s Department to effect payment of their salaries in time to avert the accumulation of arrears to be paid to staff.”

Mr. Emmanuel Geyevo, spokesman of the nurses, who spoke to The Ghanaian Times, said the leadership of the Coalition of Unpaid Nurses and Midwives were not satisfied with half of the clearance forms released since government was expected to release all.

He said government had, however, promised to release the remaining clearance forms for the enrolled nurses and community health nurses before the end of this month.

He, therefore, entreated members of the group to accept and be prepared to go anywhere they would be posted to.
