NLA donates computers to Tamale Police

The National Lottery Authority (NLA) has presented one laptop and a desktop computer to the Northern Regional Police Command to aid in improving communications to combat crime in the area.

Mr Joseph Dassah, the Northern Regional Sales Manager of the NLA, presenting the equipment to the Police, in Tamale, on Monday, commended them for always being reliable partners, particularly, in the area of clamping down on illegal lottery operations.

He said, “We cannot stop seeking your services since the illegal lotto operators are remaining adamant to stop the practice.

“The state loses lots of money that would have gone into the consolidated fund for development, but these illegal lotto operations continue to remain a nuisance hampering smooth operations of NLA to generate more revenue for the state that grapples with resources for development.”

Mr Dassah said the donation of the computers formed part of NLA’s Corporate Social Responsibility with the Authority’s resolve to reach out to communities not only in the capital but in distant areas as well.

He said the NLA would continue to count on the Police as reliable partners in the achievement of its mandate and gave assurance that the gesture was just the beginning of better things to come.

He said his office was always open for dialogue, especially in areas that would improve the activities of the Police Command.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Ken Yeboah, the Northern Regional Commander of Police, who received the computers, called for sustained cordial relations between the two institutions to combat crime and gave the assurance that the Police would not relent in efforts of helping to clamp down on illegal lotto operations.

He said the computers would be used for the intended purposes, and appealed for two printers and Uninterrupted Power Service (UPS) to ensure their durability.
