Driver granted GH¢5,000 bail for reckless driving

A Tarkwa circuit court has granted GH¢5,000.00 bail with a surety, to a driver, Eric Addea for reckless driving and negligently causing harm.

He pleaded guilty with explanation to careless, inconsiderate driving and guilty to negligently causing harm.

The accused person will re-appear before the court on November 17.

The Prosecutor, Chief Inspector Edward Paddy told the court, that on September 15, at about 06:00 hours, the accused person was driving a Man Diesel flat body truck with registration number WR 3894-14 loaded with cyanide from Barbex premises towards Asante Akyem.

He said on reaching a section of the road at Tarkwa Bankyim main lorry station there were vehicles parked on both shoulders of the road.

Inspector Paddy said the victim, Stephen Kwaw, a 65 year-old man, who was then crossing the road, got stuck in the middle of the road because of the moving vehicles.

The Prosecutor said the trailer of the accused person’s truck hit the victim and he fell down and sustained injuries.

The victim was rushed to the Tarkwa government hospital, where he was admitted for a while and later discharged.

Inspector Paddy said, the accused person was subsequently arrested and charged with the offence.
