Farmer sentenced to three years imprisonment

Nkawie (Ash), July 31, GNA- Kwasi Gordon, a 26-year-old farmer, was on Wednesday sentenced to three years’ imprisonment by the Atwima District court for stealing provisions worth about three million cedis. He pleaded guilty.

Police Inspector Ben Antwi told the court that on the night of July 24, the accused broke into a provisions kiosk in front of the Nkawie Government Hospital and stole beverages and a tape recorder. He said the accused packed the stolen items into five cocoa sacks and boarded a vehicle for Kumasi.

On reaching a police barrier he was confronted by police personnel on duty who opened the sacks and found the items.
