Herbalists urged to organise course for interested persons

Nsawam, July 25, GNA – Alhaji Hilla Ali, Chairman of the Akuapem South Herbalists Association on Thursday urged herbal practitioners to organise courses for people who are interested in herbal medicine to facilitate the country’s efforts at job creation.

He said a number of practitioners have died with their immense expertise in the production of herbal medicine at the expense of the socio-economic development of country.

Alhaji Ali gave the advice when he addressed a meeting of the members of the association at Nsawam in the Eastern Region on Thursday and called on his colleagues to desist from the selfish act. He cautioned fake herbalists about the danger they pose to society, adding that whoever is found engaged in the illegal trade would be handed over to the law enforcement agencies.

“We are ready to admit genuine practitioners into our midst,” he added.

Alhaji Ali said that the Association has plans to set up a herbal tree plantation for odum, cida and mohagany to facilitate the production of herbal products.
