ActionAid Ghana (AAG), an international development charity, has donated a variety of relief items valued at GH?500,000.00 to the June 3 flood victims in six districts of the Greater Accra Region.
The package, which was funded by StartFund, included rice, cooking oil, sachet drinking water, shito (pepper sauce) mattresses, blankets, buckets and sanitary pads.
More than 600 households with a population of 3,800 received the items in the Ablekuma South, Ga South, Ga West, Ga East, Ayawaso East, Okaikoi South and La Nkwantanan.
Mr Benjamin Kwasi Tawiah, the Communication and Public Relations Manager, AAG, told the Ghana News Agency that the charity was motivated by its values, which sought to empower the poor and the disadvantaged in marginalised communities adding that, “We seek to build their power within the context of our Human Rights based Approach (HRBA).
He said: “Our vision is to help build a world without poverty and injustice in which every person can live a life of dignity.”
ActionAid Ghana started operations in 1990 and currently has offices in the Upper East, Upper West, Northern, BrongAhafo, Volta, and Greater Accra regions.
