NPP Polls: Ghana needs Minority Leader – Eyisi Boateng

An elder of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti region George Eyisi Boateng has begged delegates to vote for the under pressure minority leader Kyei Mensah-Bonsu in the party’s primaries.

Mensah-Bonsu is facing a stern competition from two contenders John Darko, who claims the MP for Suame has overstayed his tenure in Parliament and must make way for a fresh blood and one Kwadwo Boateng Genfi.

Eyisi Boateng said Mensah-Bonsu has garnered rich experience which will benefit both Parliament and the country as a whole and losing the primaries will be a major blow to Ghanaians.

“We need such people in Parliament and I believe the delegates must vote for him to stay,” Eyisi Boateng said to Kasapa FM.

According to Starr News’ Isaac Bediako Justice, many known figures in the minority caucus have openly come to the constituency to campaign for their leader. Notable among those who have visited the constituency are the Manhyia MP Mathew Opoku Prempeh, Isaac Asiamah, Oforikrom MP Elizabeth Agyemang among others.

Deputy Minority leader Dominic Nitiwul is on record to have said that the ruling NDC will make a mockery of the NPP if the minority leader loses his seat.

Meanwhile, 30 constituencies have been omitted from Saturday’s primaries due to a variety of outstanding issues.

According to a statement issued by the party and signed by its general secretary, Kwabena Agyei Agyepong a date for the primaries of those constituencies would be announced in due course.
