50 Million Cedi Fund For Old Fishermen

The Ghana National Conoe Fishermen Council is to set up a ?50 million fund to cater for the needs of old and destitute fishermen. The Executive Secretary of the Council, Nii Abeo Kyerekwanda, made this known at a general meeting of the Council in Accra on Tuesday 14th October. He said the Council will invest part of the money in treasury bills and engage in Commercial activities such as the exportation of fish products. Nii Abeo Kyerekuanda said the Council will consult and collaborate with both governmental and non-governmental organisations with similar objectives. At the meeting, three fishermen were sworn-in as chief fishermen. They are Nii Ashitey Kpordjan, for Tema Awudum, Nii Lantei Akumah for Osu, and Nii Raymond Agbayateye for Anyamam near Ada.
