Deputy Regional Secretary of the NDC Dies

The death has occurred at the 37 Military Hospital of Mr John Baptist Mwinyella, the Deputy Regional Secretary of the NDC, in the Upper West Region who also doubled as the constituency secretary of the NDC for the Lawra Nandom Constituency.

The late Mr John Mwinyella who was an Assistant Director of Education at the Lawra Education Office, died at the age of 59, after having taken ill in February this year in Lawra.

Mr Mwinyella taught at the Bawku and Lawra Secondary schools where he distinguished himself as a teacher.

A cadre of the 31st December Revolution, he worked for the PNDC right from its inception to 1992 when the country returned to constitutional democracy. In 1986-87 he taught English at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial School (Isle of Youth) in Cuba.

He was elected the NDC Constituency Secretary for Lawra/Nandom in 1992, a position he held until his death. He was also elected Deputy Regional Secretary of the NDC in 1996 and given additional responsibilities.

He left behind a wife and nine children. Burial will take place at his hometown Eremon in the Lawra District of the Upper West Region on May 31, 2003.
