Bui Dam back with 260MW

The dam situated in the Brong Ahafo region is supposed to produce nearly 400 megawatts.

“Based on this year’s energy demand, what Bui Power Authority has agreed with the systems control centre is that during the peak hours we produce 250MW of power but at the instances at the request of the system’s control centre we are able to produce more than what we are currently doing,” the Public Relations Officer of the Bui Power Authority, Salifu Wumbila told the media.

“Our water level is around 173.90 and our maximum level is 183 meters above sea level. So the amount of power we are currently producing now is based on a generation plant that was prepared between Bui power authority in consultation with the systems control centre.”

The visit was aimed at ascertaining how the Station is faring amidst Ghana’s electric power generation problems now widely known as “dumsor”.
