“Yabre” demo: NDC behind tribalistic placards – Ashanti NPP

The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti region are suspecting elements of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) for the tribal placards that were carried by some individuals who partook in the “Yabr?” protest march in the regional capital Kumasi today .

Some of the placards which were held by a number of the demonstrators had messages that slighted people from some particular regions of the country.

The opposition party demonstrated over what its leaders describe as the harsh economic conditions in the country and the worsening power crisis.

Today’s demonstration followed a similar exercise in Accra last week, which was led by the NPP flagbearer Nana Akufo-Addo.

Speaking to Citi FM Wednesday, the Ashanti regional Secretary of the party, Sam Pyne said the party suspects the NDC infiltrated its ranks with the ethnocentric placards.

“As an organisation we never printed any such materials to be insinuated to the public.

“I personally never read any ethnocentric comment on the demonstration.

“But when it comes to such matters we need to look at them very well especially on the back of what the NDC has done in recent times. They want to divert attention from their failures and disappointing Ghanaians,” he stated.
