Three major roads to be rehabilitated in Central Region

Three major roads in the Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese (AAK) District in the Central Region are to be rehabilitated to enhance economic activities in the district.

They are the Afrangua Junction-Aboase, Obohen -Abura-Dunkwa and Abakrampa Junction -Asuansi-Asomdwee roads.

The District Chief Executive (DCE), Mr Andrew Mensah said on Saturday when he addressed the 50th Anniversary celebration of the Abura Obohen “Adoye Mpontu Kuw”, a benevolent society at Abura-Obohen.

He said over 50 percent of foodstuffs produced in the district come from the three areas and stressed the need for the roads to be rehabilitated.

Nana Adu Kotsia, First Chairman of the Society and Omankrado of Obohen appealed to the government to rehabilitate the Abura Dunkwa-Obohen-Saltpond, Abura Dunkwa Anomabo roads to make travelling on the roads very comfortable.

According to him due to the bad nature of the road people going to Saltpond and Anomabo had to pass through Yamoransa, making the journey too long and tiresome.

The Assemblyman for the area Mr Andy Amoah, thanked Plan International, an NGO operating in the Central Region for giving school uniforms to some children at Aboase-Obohen school.

Mr Thomas Afful, Chairman of the Society appealed to the government to connect the town to the national electrification grid.

Mr Afful said the people have through self-help, elected poles and wired their houses in readiness for power from the national grid since the past five years.
