Mahama tells Judges to be ‘Sober’

President John Dramani Mahama on Wednesday called on Judges to live above reproach by maintaining their right temperament during adjudication.

He said “As Judges you have a huge responsibility in maintaining and delivering Justice in the country”.

President Mahama made this call when he swore in five new Appeals Court Judges at the Flagstaff House, Kanda.

The Judges are; Justice L. L Mensah, Justice Henry Kwofie, Mrs Angelina M. Domaakyaareh, Justice G. S Suubaareh and Justice Mabel Agyeman.

The five took the oaths of secrecy, office and allegiance.

President Mahama said government would by the close of March this year provide additional $5 million for the e-Justice programme in the country to fasttrack the administration of Justice in various courts throughout the country.

He said Ghana had become a leading destination for investment and therefore building confidence in the Justice system in the country could soar their interest in doing business in the country.

The President said it would also give them the confidence to report people who engage in fraudulent practices to stifle their business activities.

Justice L. L Mensah on behalf of his colleagues thanked President Mahama for the appointment and gave the assurance that they would do everything under their purview to justify the confidence reposed in them.

He gave the assurance that they would carry out their duties without fear or favour by effecting due diligence to catapult socio-economic development of the country.

“We shall uphold the laws of the country in the dispensation of Justice in the country.
