A student, knocked off his bicycle by an armoured vehicle in Tamale is dead. He died on Monday from head injuries. Yahaya Ali Toyibu, a J.S S. final year student was knocked of his bicycle when the armoured vehicle in the Vice President’s convoy veered into the bicycle lane.
Vice President Aliu Mahama was in Tamale for a short visit whilst returning from the Upper East Region.
Family sources told JOY FM that the deceased will be buried later today. Meanwhile, a soldier who fell off a moving vehicle in the Vice President’s convoy is still on admission. He is also reported to have sustained serious head injuries.
The Vice President’s three-day trip to the Upper East region was to initiate work on some projects in the region. But the NDC says the visit scuttled their campaign plans following an order from the Police to reschedule their campaign rallies.
The rallies were planned to canvass votes for Tuesday’s by-elections in the Navrongo constituency.
