Urban 5 Project Will Continue, Says DCE

Nkawkaw, E/R — The Kwahu South District Chief Executive, Mr. Raymond Osafo Djan, has stated that the Urban 5 projects, which have started at Nkawkaw will go on as scheduled without any hindrance.

According to him, the contractor on the project, Adehyeema Industrial Complex will use nine months to rehabilitate and tar a number of streets at Nkawkaw.

The DCE was reacting to a statement made by a member of the public who rang to a phone-in programme by an Nkawkaw-based FM radio station, Life FM, to say that because the people are praising the NPP government and the Member of Parliament for Nkawkaw, Hon. Kwabena Adusah Okerchire, the World Bank funded programme was being taken away to another area.

He described the statement as blatant lies and dirty politics being played by people who are desperate and envious of the NPP government’s and the MP’s achievements in the area.

He told the people that, truth will always triumph over lies and deceits so they should continue to support the government and all the political leaders in the area to enhance development.

He did not understand why some people don’t want to give praises where they are due.

On his part, the MP for Nkawkaw, Hon. Kwabena Adusah Okerchire stated that he did not give any promises when seeking political power but told the people that, when given the mandate to lead them in parliament, he would make sure that the area gets its share of the national cake and that is what is happening in the area at the moment.

According to the MP, who is also the chairman of the parliamentary select committee of foreign affairs and the deputy majority chief whip in parliament, over 35 communities in the country were vying for the urban five project but the programme could accommodate only 25 of them.

He said, it was the effort by some of them and the government’s desire to develop the area which was neglected due to its opposition stand to the previous government, that Nkawkaw was added to the programme and there advised those making dirty propaganda to allow the government to implement its laudable programmes in the area for the benefit of all and sundry.
