Kobby Acheampong slams former GYEEDA bosses for ‘messy’ deals

The Executive Director of the Ghana Youth and Entrepreneurial Development Agency (GYEEDA) has criticised his predecessors for what he says is their inability to put in place proper structures.

According to Koby Acheampong, the manner in which activities were conducted at the Agency is appalling and regrettable.

The former deputy Interior Minister was appointed by President Mahama to oversee the restructuring and reorganization of GYEEDA, which had been dogged by allegations of corruption and misappropriation of funds.

Mr. Acheampong blamed managers for not putting in place the right structures to ensure proper monitoring and evaluation.

“A lot of the things that happened here happened because people didn’t have the presence of mind to understand what their roles clearly were.”

Mr. Acheampong also criticized some programs such as the Youth in taxi driving module that were approved by the agency.

“It should not be a module that GYEEDA has to attach itself to because if you look at the contractual agreement between whoever that brought the proposal there was no basis for it.”
