Mahama promises to empowered youth to become employers

President Mahama has pledged to ensure that government’s 10 million youth fund is used to support start-ups and empower young people to be employers.

“The international youth fund will be used to support start-ups for young people who have ideas and need support to breathe life into those ideas,” the President said.

Government has announced plans of launching a Ghc10-million youth fund to encourage the spirit of entrepreneurship and push young people to become job providers.

The fund was launched at the State Banquet Hall yesterday evening.

Speaking at the International Youth day forum, President Mahama revealed that the allocation of the special fund will be based on merit and “open to all Ghanaian youth irrespective of gender, political or ethnic affiliation.”

“All Ghanaian youth who have brilliant ideas but can’t find the necessary support to start up will be interested in this initiative.

“All youth who meet the requirement of the fund will be considered,” the President stated.

The International Youth day is an annual event organised in collaboration with other stakeholders to empower young people to transform their societies.
