Man in trouble for allegedly threatening to kill Queen

A Kumasi Circuit Court presided over by Mr D.W.P. Amedior, has ordered the Unit Committee Chairman for Abirem in the Kwabre East District to be held in prison custody over an alleged threat of death.

Kingsley Dwomoh, 39, is accused of threatening to kill the Queen of the town, Nana Yaa Bosuo III, in a dispute over a piece of land.

He pleaded not guilty to the offence.

He would make his next appearance on Tuesday, July 8.

Police Chief Inspector Frimpong Manso said in May, last year the Queen noticed an encroachment on a parcel of land over which, she has legitimate title and ordered the developer to stop work.

Dwomoh, who was supervising the development, would have none of that, mobilized some land guards and threatened to kill her if she dared step on the said land.

The prosecution said fearing for her life, she made a formal report to the police and he was arrested while the land guards ran away.

He was granted police enquiry bail but even before the police could finish their investigations into the matter, the accused on May 18, this year, allegedly repeated the threat.

He was consequently served with the summons to appear before the court, but he refused and a bench warrant was issued for his arrest.
