Akatsi-North to award best-performing BECE candidates

The three best-performing BECE candidates in the Akatsi-North District this year will be awarded a scholarship to further their education.

The scholarship scheme was established last year jointly by the District Assembly and Mr. Peter Nortsu-Kotoe, Member of Parliament for the Akatsi-North Constituency.

Mr. James Gunu, Akatsi-North District Chief Executive, said the scheme was one of the many initiatives taken over the past two years to raise academic performance, including teacher performance and responsible parenting in the district.

He said the maiden recipients of the scheme were in various senior high schools.

A total of 323 students from 17 schools in the area took part in the BECE with no absentee.

Mrs Kate Nutsuga-Mikado, District Director of Education, expressed the hope that a female would come up among those to be honoured.
