C/R Pensioners Association elects new executives

Dr Berth Ofei, Medical Officer at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) Hospital, has advised pensioners to desist from smoking, and the intake of alcoholic beverages, because they can give them health risks.

Dr. Ofei gave the advice when he addressed the Eight Quadrennial Delegates Conference of the Central Regional branch of the Ghana Pensioners Association, during which new executives were elected for the next four years.

It was under the theme: “Risk Factors and Unhealthy Lifestyles-Strategy for Control.” He pointed out that aging is a ladder everybody will climb. Dr Ofei urged the pensioners to get actively involved in social activities and undertake exercise regularly.

He urged them to be careful with medicines they take, and resort to only those prescribed by Medical Officers.

Mr Jimmy Appiah from Apam was elected the new Regional Chairman, with Mr W.D Andoh and Mr John Otoo, as Secretary and Deputy Secretary respectively.

Mr E. O. Ashley, National Secretary of the Association who chaired the function, appealed to the new executives to work hard to promote the welfare of members.
