Presbyterian Pastor urges Christians to carry their cross

The Fourth Minister of the Osu Ebenezer Presbyterian Church has called on Christians to deny themselves and carry their cross and follow Jesus Christ in order to establish a mutual relationship between mankind and God.

Reverend Joseph Jerry Quaye said the cross represents suffering, sacrifice, persecution, rejection, redemption, justification, reconciliation and forgiveness; adding, “It is your own cross on which you’ll be crucified.”

Rev. Quaye made the call during a Good Friday Service held at the Osu Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in Accra, on the theme: “Dying with the Lord.”

He said the death of Christ is the fulfillment of scripture and the will of God which makes mankind righteous before God in order to completely reconcile with Him.

Rev. Isaac Quist, Third Minster of the Church said Christians cannot celebrate Easter without showing appreciation to Christ, explaining that what makes His death unique is how He laid His life for humanity by bearing the cross.

He, therefore, urged Christians to celebrate the death by demonstrating love to one another as Jesus Christ did on the Cross.

Rev. Quist said Good Friday is a platform for non-Christians to accept Jesus as their Lord and personal saviour.
