Gov’t will continue to prioritize road projects – Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has reiterated that his government will continue to prioritize road projects in development of the country.

“Roads are one of the priority areas for this government because everybody wants better roads,” President Mahama said on Monday, April 14 when he inspected extent of work on the Legon-Madina stretch of the Tetteh Quarshie Interchange-Manfe Highway.

According to him, good roads boost businesses and adds to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of a country.

“If people are able to move goods and services faster, it leads to growth of the economy and reduction in prices of goods,” he observed.

He told contractors that, as one of the ‘Gang of Six’ projects, the Legon-Madina road remains one of the closely monitored of the government.

“Most of them are substantially finished,” he said of the Gang of Six.

“Once that’s completed, it will improve very much the traffic management in Accra,” President Mahama added.

He asked the contractor to finish the project quickly in order to turn attention to the Agbogba-GIMPA road so that the northern corridor of the city “will be substantially free of traffic”.
