KATH meets today on MOH directive

Management of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) will be meeting today Tuesday March 4, over the directives issued by the Ministry of Health last week, an official has told TV3.

The directives were issued following an investigation into the “missing five” babies saga at the Labour Ward of the Hospital.

Speaking on TV3’s News 360 on Monday, March 3, Kwame Frimpong, the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Hospital, said management only received a letter containing the Ministry’s directives on Monday afternoon.

“Management will be meeting on the matter [Tuesday] morning,” he indicated.

Mr Frimpong dismissed media reports that two of the “five” babies reportedly missing have been found, stressing that the reports were unfounded.

“We have three incidents of the missing babies and not five,” he clarified, pointing out that the reporter misconstrued what he told him.

“It is not like a new discovery,” he explained.

The Hospital has been ordered to produce the missing babies dead or alive. It has also been directed to let the doctor and nurse on duty when one Suweiba Abdul-Mumin delivered at the Ward proceed on leave for further investigations to be conducted.
