Serve God diligently – Clergy

Dr Micheal Assilidjoe, President of the South West Ghana Conference of the Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church, has reiterated the need for Christians to be submissive to their calling, and serve God diligently.

He said there was also the need for the self examination by believers to ensure that they were threading on the path that leads to salvation.

In a message to climax activities to mark the 125th anniversary of the church in the Western Region, Dr Assilidjoe said there was the need for Christians to be worthy of their calling.

The theme: ‘Revival and Christian Living,’ was chosen to create awareness on the need for believers, especially the Adventists, to be dynamic in the end times.

Dr Assilidjoe urged Adventists to develop strong conviction and stand for their faith, the church and God.

The Adventist Church started in Ghana in 1888 when Hannah More, a native of Apam, came across a tract containing the teachings of Adventism on the shores of Apam.

As a woman who could read, she was inspired by the doctrine in the tract and initiated a movement with her family.

The SDA Church later spread to Agona in the Western Region and some parts of Ashanti Region.

The Western Region alone can boast of four clinics, 50 basic and senior high schools, and two nursing institutions constructed by the SDA Church.

The National Adventist Development and Relief Agency Project are also yielding lots of positive results.
