The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority on Friday commenced investigations into the near air-crash of an Antrak Airplane.
The domestic carrier escaped a near fatal crash that morning after one of its flights from Tamale to Accra caught fire mid air.
It could, however, not explain what caused the fire. All the passengers on board the aircraft escaped unhurt after the pilot force landed safely at the Tamale Airport 20 minutes into the flight.
In a statement, Antrak said it will make alternative travel arrangements for passengers who will be affected by the grounding of the aircraft.
“We will update the public once investigations into the incident have been completed by the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority. We will not be making any further comments on the incident.”
The aircraft, manufactured in 2008, is operated for Antrak by Swiftair of Spain.
