PPP plans “massive anti-corruption” demo

The Progressive People’s Party (PPP) intends going on a “massive anti-corruption” demonstration in the national capital in August.

The Party’s National Chairman, Nii Allotey Brew-Hammond says in a statement that: “In the wake of recent shocking revelations concerning institutional corruption that is swallowing the nation, the Progressive People’s Party (PPP) has planned to lead party members, and interested members of the public who are also mortified by these revelations, in a massive demonstration in Accra to express our disgust against corruption”.

He says the PPP “intends to embark upon this demonstration along the Kwame Nkrumah Avenue; from the Circle through Kantamanto and converge on the Old Polo Grounds”.

The party has written to the Ghana Police Service for protection in line with the Public Order Act.

In the letter, the party said: “We would, therefore, be grateful for the Ghana Police Service to offer protection, confirm the appropriate route for the demonstration, and advice on a most convenient date for the Police Service”.
