The Reverend Ransford Kwabena Awuku-Gyampoh, Minister in charge of Trinity Presby Church, Koforidua, has called on Christians to pray for the nation.
He said as Christians had the power to speak positive things and pronounce blessings on the nation, they should emulate the example of Elisha when he spoke to heal an unproductive land.
Rev. Awuku-Gyampoh, who is also the Director of the Akuapem Presbytery Prayer and Retreat Centre, gave the advice at the end of a week-long revival programme at the Atomic Hills Presbyterian Church in Accra recently.
The revival was on the theme: “Stopping the Stopper, Extra oil.”
Quoting Jeremiah 29 verse 7, which says: “And work for the peace and prosperity of the city where I sent you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, for its welfare will determine your welfare.”
Rev. Awuku-Gyampoh said because Christians were the salt of the earth and needed to add taste to the world by eschewing all forms of ill doings, they should use their mouths to declare good.
He said: “Christians must work hard to create niches for others to follow,” and added that since salt could appear to be clear and transparent; the role of the church and the state was to be transparent in our day to day life.
Rev. Awuku-Gyampoh explained that salt is a preservative and Christians must act as preservatives in the country by helping to preserve the natural resources found in vast portion of the country’s economy and help reduce solid waste in the communities.
“We must also contribute to sustainable development by using the available resources wisely with the future generation in mind,” he admonished
Rev. Charles Berefi Ahwireng, the Minister in charge of the Atomic Hills congregation and host of the programme, said he was overwhelmed by the attendance and the miracles God did through his servants.
Describing Reverend Awuku-Gyampoh as a gifted man of God, he said, he was able to identify people’s problems and also provided solutions to their problems.
“Many people have come confessing that they had solutions to their problems and wish that the programme is done on a quarterly basis,” he added.
