GIS cautions officials conniving with illegal foreigners

The Ghana Immigration Service has conceded that some of its officials could be guilty of conniving with some Chinese to compromise Ghana’s immigration regulations.

The Lands and Natural Resources Minister, Inusah Fuseini, has warned of dire consequences for the boss of the service if he fails to cleanse his outfit of corrupt officials.

According to him, it is frustrating for the government to have immigration officials thwarting efforts at flushing out Chinese illegal miners.

The Director of Public Affairs at the Immigration service, Francis Palmdetti, in an interview with XYZ News said the service is worried about the situation and is committed to discharging its duties with the highest level of integrity.

He said none of its officials will be spared if caught engaging in inappropriate acts.
