Soldiers reminded not to engage in partisan politics

Lieutenant Colonel Seidu Abass, Commanding Officer (CO) of the 66 Artillery Regiment, Volta Barracks, has reminded officers to reframe from engaging in partisan politics.

“You all know that we don’t tolerate party politics here. I am just reminding you that you must keep to it,” he said.

Lt. Col. Abass said this when the Minister for Defence, Mark Woyongo paid a day’s working visit to the Regiment in Ho.

“We are obliged to protect and support the government of the day and consolidate the country’s democracy. We are strongly committed to this,” Lt. Col. Abass said.

He urged personnel at the Regiment to remain professional and be prepared to defend the country’s Constitution and democracy.

“We are highly disciplined… and I expect you all to be committed to defending our democracy,” Lt. Col. Abass said.

Mr Woyongo commended the Regiment for not allowing partisan politics at the Barracks.

He stated government’s readiness to re-tool the military and urged the personnel to be loyal to the government of the day.

Mr Woyongo also assured that the government would not politicize the military.
