A 27-year-old fisherman who told the police that he had sex with a nine year- old female pupil in the anus on Thursday appeared before an Accra Circuit Court charged with defilement.
Attuquaye Clottey has however pleaded not guilty and the court presided over by Ms Sedina Agbemava remanded him into Police custody to reappear on May 22.
Prosecuting, Detective Inspector Kofi Atimbire said the pupil who is in class two resides at Chorkor with her mother. Clottey also resides in the area.
Inspector Atimbire said Clottey was a friend to the victims’ step father and as such had been visiting the house.
At about 0900 hours on February 9, Clottey went to the victim’s house to look for her step father. On entering the house Clottey found out that the victim was fast asleep in the room.
Clottey, prosecution said secretly entered the room, covered the victim’s mouth thereby preventing her from shouting and he had sex with her.
The victim’s father entered the room and saw Clottey in the act.
Prosecution said a report was made to the Police who in turn issued a medical form to the victim for her to be treated in hospital.
Inspector Atimbire said in Clottey’s cautioned statement, he admitted having sex with the victim through her anus and not her vagina.
