Man, 23 jailed four years for stealing

Sampson Yaw Tuffour, a mason has been sentenced to four years imprisonment with hard labour for stealing by a circuit court at Akim Swedru.

Tuffour, 23, from Akim Ofoase, pleaded guilty. His accomplice is on the run.

Prosecuting, Police Inspector Kwaku Appiah told the court, presided over by Mr Yaw Atta Sampong that a Police Patrol Team at Akim Oda on February 14, this year at about 0200 hours spotted the convict and his accomplice standing besides two sacks containing quantities of provisions.

The prosecutor said during interrogations his accomplice took to his heels but Tuffuor was arrested.

He said the convict told the police that the items belonged to one Yaa Mensah his sister.

The police led him to a nearby house but the sister was nowhere to be found.
