NHIA to set up claims processing centre by second quarter

NHIA has advanced plans to set up claims processing centre in the Central Region by the beginning of the second quarter of the year to cater for both Western and the Central Regions, the Central Regional Manager has said. Alhaji K. Mettle disclosed this at a three-day annual review conference for district managers, claims and public relation officers of the Central Regional branch of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) at Winneba.

He announced that there are plans to intensify educational programmes on the tenets of the NHIA with the view to increasing the membership level of the scheme to cover at least 50 percent of the region’s population which stands at 2,201,863.

He said the NHIA would roll-out capitation and biometric registration programmes in the region this year and charged all district managers and core officers implementing the policy in the region to work harder than before.

He expressed the hope that the rolling out of the claims processing centre, the capitation and the biometric registration systems would go a long way to improve the current health delivery policy and further called for efficient resource management from the district managers.
