The General Secretary of the ruling NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has raucously condemned members of the opposition New Patriotic Party(NPP) for staging and executing a well orchestrated “cantata show” at the Supreme Court when both parties gathered to witness court proceedings last Wednesday.
According to Asiedu Nketia who was part of the NDC’s envoy to witness their application to be part of the NPP’s petition challenging the declaration of John Dramani Mahama as President, he was surprised to observe the series of comic reliefs the NPP came to court to offer.
The NDC scribe stated that it was weird observing “astute lawyers” turn into “cantata” characters with a deliberate plot to cause an upheaval in the country by dressing their people in NDC t-shirt.
In an interview with Kwame Nkrumah Tikese on Okay FM, Asiedu Nketia denied funding NDC party supporters to stir controversies around the court premises, as the NPP were alleging and indicated that it is a conspiracy by the opposition players to paint them black.
He further stated that knowing how diabolical the NPP can sometimes be, he can confidently state that the NPP bought the NDC t-shirts from the market and made their members wear them to fulfill their notorious plots.
“They talked about owning ‘fufu’ pestles and when we complained they told us it is a weapon they would use to crush their oppressors in times of trouble. After they had realized that nobody had provoked them, they decided to stage a concert party to show Ghanaians that somebody had bruised their wounds by organizing hooligans to wear NDC t-shirts.
“We learnt that the NPP organized a press conference and issued a statement claiming that the NDC had transported people and given them canes to foment trouble in the country. They even assured the people who attended their event that various newspapers would carry the publications the next day and the televisions stations would also show pictures. True to their word, we went to watch our television and saw a pick-up vehicle carrying some people in NDC t-shirts holding canes.
“I see that move as a cantata plot by the NPP to ensure that there is trouble in the country to make people forget about the court proceedings. After the elections, we all saw how they organized their supporters to Obra Spot and told them to carry various weapons. We the elders in the NDC advised our people not to respond to the NPP’s ‘all die be die’ attitude because we knew we had won the elections cleanly. We told them not to respond in a like manner because we know defeat evokes pain and even urged the NPP to go to court to seek redress”, he stated.
