Reverend John .E. Kuranchie, Senior Pastor of the Rhema Assemblies of God Church at Atonsu in Kumasi has reminded people in authority to walk the talk and call for peace in the nation.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on his expectation for the year 2013, Rev. Kuranchie, who is also the Atonsu District Pastor of the Church, said the time had come for people in responsible positions to give true and practical meaning to peace, instead of merely calling for peaceful co-existence.
“Peace should not be vainly pronounced; we as individuals, clergy, politicians etc, must love our nation, and work tirelessly for peace and progress,” he said.
He urged Ghanaians to eschew partisanship and pray fervently to the Almighty God to continue to bless this nation and to protect Ghana’s sovereignty.
“We should work hard and strive to do what is expected of us for the good of our nation. Patriotic people don’t just talk about peace and do the contrary – fomenting trouble. This makes us hypocrites. We must be circumspect in all our endeavours, and this reflects true patriotism,” he stressed.
Rev. Kuranchie gave the assurance that the year 2013 holds good prospects for Ghana, and it takes a high sense of patriotism to enjoy the fullness thereof.
