Robbers kill taxi driver, robs passengers at Nkroful

Eight armed-robbers on Monday killed a taxi driver, Barnabas Elu and robbed passengers along Nkroful/Salman road, near Eluke, in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region.

The victims were identified as Mark Sensu and Samuel Sensu, both gold dealers and took away GHc20,000 from them.

The Axim District Police Commander, Superintendent Victor Oduro Abrokwa, confirmed the robbery to the Ghana News Agency in an interview on Tuesday.

He said the robbers blocked the Nkroful/Salman road with logs around 1930 hours on Monday and stopped a taxicab with registration number E/R 5937-12.

The Police added that the robbers first robbed Mark Sensu and Samuel Sensu both gold dealers GHc20,000, and shot-dead another taxi driver, Barnabas Elu, who later appeared on the scene of the robbery.

The corpse had been deposited at the Axim Government Hospital mortuary awaiting autopsy whilst the two taxi cars had been impounded and sent to the Nkroful Police Station.

So far, no arrest had been made while police investigations continue.
