Badu pleaded not guilty to stealing and would reappear on January 21. His accomplice is on the run.

Prosecuting Police Inspector Wilberforce Kwaku Appiah said Mr Wisdom Cudjoe, a businessman and also the complainant and Badu live at Akim Oda.

He said on December 9, 2012, the accused and his accomplice attempted to steal 10 pieces of iron rods belonging to the complaining but luck eluded them when a witness in the case appeared on the scene.

According to the prosecutor, Badu asked his accomplice to plead with the witness not to raise the alarm but to help them carry the items to where they would sell and give him his share.

The witness refused and asked them to leave the rods, but Badu came back to pick them and unfortunately for him the watchman of the store was around and together with the witness an alarm was raised and Badu was arrested.
