Security personnel in the Eastern Region have re-affirmed their commitment to professionalism and selflessness to duty to ensure that all criminal activities that would disturb the peace and development of the nation are curtailed.
In that direction they had cautioned all trouble makers to rescind their decision because the combined security agencies had resolved to use a unified front to combat all forms of crime even at the peril of their lives.
Addressing the personnel from the various security agencies at the Jackson Park in Koforidua after a route march through some of the main streets of Koforidua, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Kwabena Gyamera-Yeboah, the Eastern Regional Police Commander, said the security services would not condone any activity that would disturb the peace and urged the public to cooperate with them.
He said the route march was to sensitize the public that the combined force of the security in the region was alert and would deal with any miscreant without fear or favour.
He expressed the hope that the yeoman performance of the security agencies during the elections in the region would be maintained and even upscale to protect the citizenry and properties.
Personnel from the Ghana Armed Forces, Immigration Service, Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue authority, Fire Service, Prisons Service and the Police Service took part in the march led by their regional commanders and other senior officers.
The Police Training School in Koforidua has expanded its facilities to ensure a holistic and effective training of police personnel who would meet the demands of modern day policing.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at a reviewing meeting in Koforidua, the Commanding Officer of the school, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Raymond Adofiem, said the school had acquired its own shooting range, self defense training program to boost trainees armed combat and a 25-seater capacity internet café and computer laboratory to make them ICT compliant.
DSP Adofiem said since 1952 the training school had been using the HO and Accra shooting ranges to train its recruits and the Military Jungle Warfare School at Achiase for the self defense training programme which was not the best.
He thanked the general public for the overwhelming support given to the school, and assured that the training school would continue to be in service to the community to create a healthy relation between the public and police personnel in the region.
The training school admitted 1,119 persons in 2012 out of which 678 had passed out and are serving n various police stations across the country.
