Let’s use Christmas to entrench the peace in Ghana – Rev. Asamoah

Ghanaians have been urged to use the Christmas season to reflect and deepen their spiritual fellowship with God and live peacefully with all people, particularly, after the December 7 general elections.

“As a nation, let us use the occasion to avail ourselves to the service of Christ by loving one another, forgiving ourselves, tolerating each other’s view and living peacefully with one another,” Reverend Isaac Obed Asamoah, Senior Pastor of the Gospel Faith Ministries in Accra said on Tuesday.

In a Christmas day sermon, Rev. Asamoah in a quote from Isaiah, said: “For unto us a Child is born. Unto us a Son is given. And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace”.

Rev Asamoah described the birth of Jesus Christ as most significant of all births adding; “this is because Christ brings salvation to all men. Perfect peace can only be found in Christ because He is the Prince of Peace”.

He reminded Christians not to limit the celebration to eating, drinking, and on social gatherings alone but to thank God for demonstrating His undying love by giving to the world His only begotten Son and show love to the under-privileged and those dying.

Rev. Asamoah urged all to live to serve and please God and to bring glory and honor to His holy name.

“Let us therefore live our lives to please God and not ourselves,” he said.

He wished Ghanaians a merry Christmas and a happy new year, adding; “may God continue to bless our homeland Ghana and make it more prosperous”.

Members of the congregation, who spoke with the Ghana News Agency, expressed thanks to God for granting them another year and ensuring a peaceful election in Ghana.
