Health Ministry urges GHOSPA members to remain calm

The Ministry of Health is promising to help unravel discrepancies in the salaries of members of the Government and Hospital Pharmacists Association (GHOSPA).

GHOSPA has petitioned the Ministry and the Accountant-General over what it calls strange decrease in salaries of its members since October this year.

The association has threatened to take some extreme measures if the situation is not rectified by next month.

Speaking to XYZ News, Public Relations Officer at the Ministry of Health, Tony Goodman, said the ministry will lead the way to solve the problem.

He said as the employers of GHOSPA, the ministry would front for them in their quest to resolve all issues pertaining to the salaries.

‘We would have to now hold the fort and lead them to go to the Controller and Accountant General and find out why this time around they are receiving some of those salaries,” Mr. Goodman said.

GHOSPA remains the only public health workers yet to be migrated unto the single spine salary structure.

Their submission to a compulsory arbitration with the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission at the National Labour Commission is yet to be concluded.

Mr Goodman says the ministry hopes the issue will be addressed amicably.
