Central Region Youth of NDC appeal to NPP to give peace a chance

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) youth in the Central Region have appealed to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to give peace a chance by abstaining from attacks on innocent citizens and street demonstrations in protest against the December 7 presidential election.

Mr Samuel Ato Amoah, the member of Parliament-elect for Atti-Mokwaa, said nobody was against the NPP in going to court to contest their alleged rigging of the election and added “It is their constitutional right to do so.”

He told the GNA in an interview that protests and violence being perpetrated against innocent citizens would not make Ghanaians to have a peaceful Christmas and appealed to the NPP to take note of efforts by some prominent citizens to make the elections free of violence and restrain their members.

“You must not let the efforts of the Peace Council, chiefs, religious bodies and civil societies to be in vain,” Mr Amoah said.

He said it was unfortunate that the NPP that had as its campaign theme; “the fight is for the Lord” and had prayer meetings to seek God’s favour, should kick against God’s direction.

Mr Amoah said “it is the Lord who elects a leader and that there is nothing a candidate can do to win an election if God’s spirit is not with him.”

On the alleged rigging of the election, Mr Amoah said he wondered where the NPP’s polling agents were when the ballot papers were counted and results recorded and urged their leaders to stop throwing dust into the eyes of Ghanaians.
