Techiman MP cited for shirking parental responsibility

The Member of Parliament for Techiman North constituency, Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi is being accused of parental negligence. As part of the mudslinging politics taking place in Techiman between the NDC and NPP, the NDC released a press statement to state that the Techiman North MP had shirked his responsibilities as a father to one Nicholas Ameyaw-Akumfi.
According to NDC communicators in Techiman, the boy is being seen through University by the MCE for Techiman and NDC candidate for the Techiman North Parliamentary seat, Hon Alex Kyeremeh.
Ultimate radio reached the boy from the University for Development Studies to verify the story. He said he is indeed son of the MP. He intimated that his father is denying fatherhood of him and hence threw a challenge to him for a DNA test to lay the matter to rest.
Nicholas alleges that since he refused to denounce Hon. Alex Kyeremeh as instructed by his father, he has been receiving death threats. Though he can’t prove his father’s complicity in the threats, he believes the threats are not isolated incidents.
Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi when contacted by Ultimate radio said he has been looking after the boy and has receipts to prove. He however asked his brother Abubakar Ameyaw-Akumfi to respond. Abubakar also went on to back Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi’s claim. He however the Professor “is not sure Nicholas is his real son”, but he takes care of him nonetheless because “a human being is a human being”.
Nicholas has however described Hon. Alex Kyeremeh as a God-sent person who has changed the course of his life for the better, adding that there is no way he is going to show ingratitude by denouncing him although he happens to be his father’s political rival.
