Laborer thief granted 4,000 cedis bail

A Tarkwa circuit court has granted bail in the sum of 4,000 Ghana cedis to a 22-year-old laborer, Benjamin Kwaku Sunkwa, for stealing a pumping machine and assaulting a security officer of G. 4 Security Company.

He pleaded not guilty and will re-appear in court on October 1.

Prosecuting Detective Chief Inspector Oscar Amponsah told the court presided over by Mr. Samuel Obeng Diawuo that the complainants, Norbert Percy Bonney and Isaac Armoo are attached to Goldfields Ghana Limited (GGL), Tarkwa Mine as security personnel.

On September 21, the complainants were on patrol when they saw the first accused and one Francis who is now at large carrying a pumping machine and a fertilizer sack.

They attempted to arrest them but in the process a struggle ensued between them and Francis used a hammer to hit the forehead and palm of Bonney and escaped. Benjamin also bit the right cheek and shoulder of Amoo but he was over powered and taken to the Tarkwa police station.
