GMA to sack negligent doctors

The Ghana Medical Association has threatened to dismiss members whose negligence may lead to the death of patients.

The threat follows a WHO report which says about a million patients die through medical negligence globally every year.

A case in point in Ghana is the case of 26 year-old lady who is reported by the Chronicle to have been rendered barren by Doctors who left a rag in her womb after surgery.

Despite conceding that some doctors may have been negligent in their duties, the GMA President who was also on the show however says some of the difficulties are beyond the Doctors.

Dr. Kwabena Adusei Poku is therefore urging health stakeholders to also assist by equipping doctors with the right tools and improve upon the health delivery system to serve the public better.
