Give Bursaries To Needy Children – Educationist

Accra, July 13, – A senior official of the Ghana Education Service has suggested a scheme under which needy children especially girls would be given bursaries. The official, Mrs Mary Ampa-Nkrumah, Deputy Director of Basic Education of the GES, said educational institutions could identify such needy children in communities close to them. She was speaking at the second speech and prize-giving day of the Complex Scolaire D’Accra (Complex school of Accra), a bilingual primary school in Accra. She said such a scheme would be their contribution to the educational advancement of needy children in their respective communities. Mrs Ampa-Nkrumah said the school should arrange for its teachers to benefit from the training programmes of the Centre for the Teaching of French (CREF) within the Accra High School complex. She commended Mr Robert Adjei, proprietor of the school, for establishing the complex, saying by virtue of Ghana’s geographical location, the study of French is imperative.
