We Will Investigate Reports Of Unprofessional Conduct -IGP

Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Paul Tawiah Quaye, has reaffirmed his commitment to purge the Service of miscreants.

The IGP made this known in an exclusive interview with The Informer in the wake of media reports alleging that, some police personnel are engaging in all kinds of unprofessional conducts.

According to him, even though recent media reports accusing the Tanoso Municipal Police Command of inhumane treatment had received some backlash amidst evidence on the ground, the police administration will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that such acts have no place within the Ghana police service.
“It is part of my action plans, to ensure that acts of indiscipline, corruption and misconduct alleged against personnel that go to tarnish the image of the service are not countenanced or given a smooth ride within the service”, IGP Quaye pointed out.

“We have ordered investigation to be conducted into the purported Tanoso incident and the perpetrators will be punished accordingly, if found to be true”, he added.
The Chronicle newspaper in its Volume 21, number 109 on Thursday 14th June, 2012 asserted that one Kwabena Owusu, a farmer in the Techiman Municipality, was mishandled by personnel of the Tanoso Police Command to the extent of compelling him to ease on himself in public, after being stripped half naked and chained to an electric pole.
However, this paper’s check at the Tanoso Police Command reveals that the said Chronicle publication is unfounded.
