An 18-year old Senior High School (SHS) student has appeared before a Kumasi Circuit Court for stealing.
Richmond Berkye is facing charges of unlawful entry, causing unlawful damage and stealing.
He pleaded innocent and was granted bail in the sum of GH¢10,000.00 to re-appear on Wednesday, July 4.
Police Chief Inspector Samuel Appiah-Kubi, told the court presided over by Justice D.W.P Amedior that the complainant, Thomas Kwarteng, is a businessman and lives at Bremang in Kumasi whilst the accused is a student of the Pentecost SHS located in the very same community.
On May 28, Kwarteng returned to the house only to find that it had been broken into and his laptop computer, modem, computer game, cellular phone and jewelry stolen.
The prosecution said the complainant later received a tip off from one of the students of the SHS that Berkye had been seen with a laptop computer bag.
He quickly informed the police and he was arrested.
Police Chief Inspector Appiah said the stolen laptop computer, modem and computer game were also recovered from him during investigations.
He had formatted the laptop, changed the password and put a lock on it.**
